PORTLAND — Dallas' football team ran over Parkrose Friday night, earning a 40-0 victory.
“I saw some really good effort by some of the guys,” coach Tracy Jackson said. “I also saw a lot of things we have to get cleaned up.”
Quarterback Jaret Stewart hit Treve Earhart for a 23-yard touchdown to start the scoring.
Damon Hodge scored a 3-yard run as the Dragons led 14-0 after the first quarter. Hodge scored his second touchdown in the second quarter to give Dallas a 20-0 lead headed into halftime.
Evan Courtney and Camden Frizelle each scored in th third quarter and Kenny Chen added an 11-yard touchdown run in the fourth.
Courtney finished the game with 207 yards on the ground.
The Dragons outgained Parkrose 398 to 105.
Dallas hosts North Eugene Friday at 7 p.m. Jackson said the Dragons must be ready for a different challenge.
“They throw the ball pretty well,” Jackson said. “They don’t always throw it long, but they keep drives going.”
CROSS PLACES SEVENTH: Dallas cross-country runner Trevor Cross placed seventh at the Ultimook Nike Invitational on Saturday, finishing with a time of 18 minutes, 6.39 seconds.
The Dragons placed eighth in the team standings.
Bekah Rocak was the girls team’s top finisher, placing 82nd with a time of 27:28.79. The girls squad did not have enough runners to place in the team standings.
Dallas will compete at the Saxon Invite at Bush Park in Salem Saturday at 10 a.m.
BOYS SOCCER FALLS TO STAYTON: Dallas’ boys soccer team lost to Stayton on Aug. 29. Coach John Jones said despite the result, the Dragons showed a few positive signs.
“We’re looking for some guys to step up as leaders,” Jones said. “We expect more of ourselves and more commitment to come together as a team.”
The Dragons played St. Helens Tuesday after press time. Dallas plays at Benson Thursday at 6 p.m..
